Honorable Mention Witness Tree Kay Vibbert I feel the ache of honeysuckle as I approach the edge of forest- there, solitude rests upon a branch bending from a tree, one I call the Witness Tree. Oh, bending bough where judgment buds and lives before the spring, will you fail me upon the golden grieve of autumn's testimony? Will the words I pen remain in colored form or return a vestige of misunderstood utterances that flee the moonlit air and bend the rays embracing me? Who will be called to testify to the muse wrapped within my soul? There, she remains a waif, one pledged to burn truth within the harvest fires. Let the veins fall from the palms of your children. Allow me to speak through the pages birthed from the trunk on which you stand. Steadfast I remain, for should I climb there would be no oath I could voice toward the height of heaven to satisfy my Witness Tree. Be silent, allow me to give testimony for the muse who lives within. Cast oak and maple to the fire, oh Witness Tree, you live throughout the lines which are the legacy of the high court I found you in, my living forest. My testimony. My Witness Tree.
